The Lil' Pumpkin
Michaela has been practicing bringing her head up and turning it side to side while on her stomach. This is a challenging task. She also likes to stand up on you and crawl up you when she's laying on your chest. She likes to move! She also likes her little furry friends hooked on her crib. She's able to track better and is still smiling--that is when she is fed, changed and awake! Good job Michaela! Way to grow!

Here's the latest, yo!
She's growing! Now 22 1/4 in. long; measured while sprawled out across Mom's lap after a breast milk binge! She's been busy rappin' with dad and a-feedin' and a-growin'. Still feeding every 2-3 hours. Some nicknames that we've been calling her before I forget (be sure to write everything down)! Little A, Little buttercup, Mickey-jo, Pumpkin, Pooper, Michaeda (thanks, Rod)...Her eyes are still a deep blue (no brown yet, Mom). And she has a powerful grip if she snags your finger or a piece of your skin. Can take a bottle or breast no problem; yet has about one spout of a crazy feed a day--wanting it all right now! And not satisfied with what she's got. Burping and walking helps. The little princess (another nickname) loves to move around and likes both her vibrating chair and little rocker; although, she loves to be held in your arms most of all. Starting to make some cooing sounds and other sounds (after she's already said Daddy?!) She's at 5 1/2 weeks!

One Month...Officially
Today Michaela is officially one month; I was a bit premature yesterday. Lots of fun happenings this past month. Namely, life outside the womb. We're enjoying our "4th Trimester" as Joe so diligently reminded me the other day. "Remember, Kate, we are in the 4th trimester. Don't you remember from baby class?" Shoot, I don't remember that statement. I was probably going, when did they extend the time she's in the womb? Three trimesters is long enough for her to cook in there, isn't it? We found that yes, it is long enough.
She sure is fun to look at and to watch grow. Her neck is getting stronger, seen by when she is laying on your chest she picks up her head and "hunt and pecks" for some milk. On males or females! Yum! Also we found a pacifier is soothing for her and she can suck on that for some time whether in the car, the stroller, the crib or in your arms.
Deciphering facial expressions and cries are becoming easier too. Is she hungry?...well, no she's had a blowout ladies and gentlemen. Oh, that's why she had her face scrunched and her stomach sounded as if she were digesting a pepperoni pizza!
Enjoying music in the mornings (real mornings, not 3 am mornings). A part of Frances England's song resonates in our heads: Eww ahh Eww ahh the way that we live
We're fascinating creatures
eww ahh eww ahh the things that we do
With our instincts we pull through...
